How do I send email through the API or the SMTP relay?

Two ways, one credential model. Call POST /api/v1/messages with a bearer API key and a JSON body: from, up to 50 recipients, subject, a text and/or HTML body and up to 25 custom headers. The API answers 202 with a message uuid; its status moves through queued, sending, sent and failed, and GET /api/v1/messages/{uuid} and /events return the state and the timeline, including the node’s own log lines. Or submit over SMTP on port 587 with STARTTLS, authenticating with a sender credential issued in the console.

API keys carry only the abilities you give them and can be pinned to one sender; keys and credentials are shown once and can be revoked at any time. Attachments are not supported yet. The OpenAPI specification is browsable in the console.

Scoped API keys and an SMTP relay that speak the same language

Issue API keys per environment with only the scopes they need, read the OpenAPI spec inside the console, and choose per organisation whether mail leaves through your own node or a shared one.

  • OpenAPI spec, browsable in the console
  • Keys with abilities, optionally pinned to one sender; shown once, revocable
  • Up to 50 recipients and 25 custom headers per message
  • Status and event timeline per message, linked to the node’s own logs
POST /api/v1/messages
Authorization: Bearer <api key, shown once>
Content-Type: application/json
